With the new Audi A8, the Ingolstadt company becomes the only manufacturer to offer autonomous driving level 3, including a new system governed by an artificial intelligence that learns continuously. Based on the “Deep Learning”, the idea is that the management system of the autonomous car, which controls the basic rules (stop or turn around an obstacle), then learn from the driver, then possible errors, in order to complete its development.

The success of 100% autonomous driving requires a complete infrastructure and rapid political decisions.

Progress is being made in new, fast-growing, relatively isolated cities where the authorities can exert a significant and immediate influence. Singapore, Shenzhen and Guangzhou are the perfect example.

These exceptional advances made by Audi were staged in a new experience called the “25th Hour”. Thanks to a partnership with Eurotunnel, the manufacturer also proposed to discover the comfort, the technology and the avant-garde of the new A8 during a crossing of 50,5 kilometers under the Channel, of which 38 kilometers under the sea with this question in mind: what would one hour and more in a day? What would you do in 60 minutes, 3,600 seconds, if you had a choice? As profound changes take place in our societies, the relationship with time is turned upside down and has never been so crucial. We are always in a hurry, but never short to place a “no now”, “later” or the best of all: “We’ll see it tomorrow!”

The transport, communications and production sectors are now moving fast. From caravels to stagecoaches, from locomotives to airplanes to cars, bicycles and high-speed trains, the world has been boosting dynamism since the 18th century. All these means are supposed to help us save time, and thus to offer us more moments of freedom. Yet we are still running against the clock.
In a big city, owning a car automatically increases the transport time. In this case, and with innovative systems like AI (Audi Intelligence), an hour spent in your vehicle is no longer a lost time, but becomes an hour more.
