In the world before confinement, when people could hope to go out for more than an hour at home – me – I was preparing a new Road Trip, I remember, it was mid-February.

At that time, I started to cross information, trace a beginning of route … In short, once the funds collected and the destination well underway, I had arrived at my favorite moment: the choice of vehicle in order to explore the southern section of the Carpathian Mountains the long and winding Transfagarasan Highway.

For this trip to the land of Dracula, the Kia XCeed seemed to me the ideal vehicle. Everything was together and in the best conditions. But there, the bell knocked on quarantine and gave a brutal stop to the logical sequence of this event. Everyone had to confine themselves to their home and I was forced to abandon the project.

Kia Xceed Review

It’s our favorite at the end of the year. Because his very assertive style is a mark of singularity… Continue reading

After more than a week of confinement, I was already at the end of my rope. After trying the messy dinner experience with a girlfriend one in front of the other, finally in front of the phone.

“Extend my comfort zone” (I never use this expression, but we must admit that it works very well in the situation we live in).

After poking your nose while listening to the mixed buddies and finally after experimenting with the luscious virtual aperitif, it was time to do something. After thinking about it, I decided to “extend my comfort zone”

Whatever it costs, I decided to move. It took a few days before I finally convinced myself by asking if it was not too risky, telling myself I would be alone and in contact with no one.

I had to do it. Go!

The organization was both simple and effective, clearly, I got up from my sofa to head to my office (2min, going through the fridge). I turned on my computer, I swallowed my hundredth of soybean (there are products that I can not stand anymore and that I never bought again)… and I typed on Google: Street View.

I just had to burn hard, to find places, routes.

My journey started – yes – because the cars equipped with Google cameras have photographed exciting and breathtaking roads in their quest to map the planet.

Here are some unique mini-trips that you can do using Street View from the comfort of your sofa – and well, if you want to invite a girlfriend to leave with you nothing could be easier, thanks to Zoom in two clicks you can share your screen with the desired person.

The valley gets gradually steeper, before climbing sharply, up to its highest point: the 2,900-foot-long Capra Tunnel, with an altitude of 6,699 feet. The ever-changing scenery of the highway makes a tremendous digital road trip.

Route des Châteaux, Pauillac, Bordeaux, France

Starting on Route des Châteaux, you can “drive” south and see Château Latour, Château Pichon Longueville Baron, Château Léoville-Las Cases, and more, while passing through charming villages.

Road trip: The Aquitaine Coast

Here over rare natural contrasts: the peaks of the Pyrenees stand facing the ocean, the pine forests and the sandy beaches stretch as far as the eye can see, the oyster beds and the Pilat dune share the bassin… Continue Reading

Avenue de la Porte Neuve, Monaco

The street twists and turns, at times, becoming quaint and secluded, while other times opening up to that expansive view. As you go along, you’ll see the famed Saint Nicholas Cathedral and the Prince’s Palace of Monaco.

Going-to-the-Sun Road, Glacier National Park, Montana

The road is both a National Historic Landmark and a civil engineering landmark, passing through everything from glacial lakes and waterfalls to forests.

Great Ocean Road, Australia

The Great Ocean Road traverses everything from rainforests to beaches to steep cliffs, as well as many limestone and sandstone rock formations, including the famed Twelve Apostles.

Tantalus Drive, Hawaii

Along the drive you get several lookout points, including a view of the Punchbowl Crater.
