It’s a mystery to us why there are so many avant-garde buildings in Spain. This is not the place to look for the reasons, (and don’t even get us started on the food), so we’ll just tell you about a new and interesting creation: the Aire de Bardenas, located at the edge of the desert in the province of Navarra.
You will certainly not be able to accuse this hotel of being easy. The prefabricated containers housing the rooms, placed on the ground facing the incessant Bardenas wind, can hardly be called “rustic” or “charming”. But if you like adventure and architecture, then you will succumb to the charm of the place. Similarly, the rooms offer nothing “cozy” or “elegant”, they are just modern, smartly designed and functional with their simple contemporary furniture. They are most notable for their huge windows that offer spectacular, otherworldly views of wheat fields and wind-worn rocks. As such, they are probably the most comfortable spaces in the hotel, with their small mattresses and pillows.
And it is this last point that makes Aire de Bardenas certainly the best hotel in the world in terms of relaxation. But that’s not all: its restaurant offers an inventive cuisine based mainly on local vegetables. And you will be constantly surprised by the natural beauty of the surroundings, even if they are unconventional, whether it is the rock formations of the Bardenas Reales National Park or the charm of the many vineyards in the area.
