Get ready to hit the open waters with Porsche and Frauscher’s latest collaboration, the electrifying 850 Fantom Air. This high-speed electric sports boat is not just a vessel; it’s a luxurious showcase of Porsche’s cutting-edge electric drive systems, bringing a dash of sporty flair to the sea.
Just as a road trip leads you on exciting journeys, Porsche has embarked on a nautical adventure with Frauscher. This partnership isn’t just about creating a speedboat; it’s a chance to unveil the technology that will drive the next-generation all-electric Porsche Macan, setting the course for the future.
It features a swim platform, two sun loungers at the rear, and benches up front. The cockpit proudly bears the Porsche emblem, and the steering wheel, designed in classic Porsche fashion, is built to withstand the elements, just like the salt and spray-resistant artificial leather upholstery on the seats.
Crafted by hand at Frauscher’s facility in Ohlsdorf, the 850 Fantom Air recently made a splash on Italy’s Lake Garda. This sleek boat, based on the Frauscher 858 Fantom Air day cruiser, measures 8.67 meters and can comfortably accommodate up to nine passengers.
What sets this boat apart is its integration of technology straight from the new Macan’s core. It utilizes components from Porsche’s Premium Platform Electric system, including a 400 kW motor, electronics, and a substantial 100 kWh battery. And just like Porsche’s road-going vehicles, the ‘eFantom Air’ offers pre-programmed driving modes, including Docking, Range, Sport, and Sport Plus. Whether you’re cruising in the harbor or seeking high-speed thrills, this boat has a mode for you. In Range mode, you can cover approximately 45 kilometers at an optimal cruising speed of 41 km/h (22 knots), while Sport Plus mode will push the boat to an impressive 85 km/h (46 knots), albeit at the cost of faster battery depletion.
Stefan Frauscher, the managing director of Frauscher Shipyard, considers this boat a true industry milestone, boasting superior performance compared to its internal combustion engine counterpart while remaining locally emission-free. Charging is a breeze, with the boat supporting fast charging through the same system as Porsche’s electric models, taking just around half an hour to charge from 10% to 80%.
Studio FA Porsche has lent its design expertise to create a sleek cockpit, featuring a glossy black instrument panel surrounded by a frameless tinted acrylic glass windscreen. The classic Porsche dashboard layout, complete with five dials and a start button, provides a familiar and comfortable setting. The two front seats are directly inspired by sports car design, ensuring a sporty and stylish ride on the water.
Additional features include folding tops for passenger area shade, a 12-inch information screen with echo sounder and chart plotter, a high-end Bluetooth audio system, and ambient and underwater LED lighting. Porsche offers a range of colors to match your car’s palette, and only 25 boats will be built in the initial production run.
Now, you have an introduction that playfully blends the excitement of the road with the allure of the sea.
So, gear up for an electrifying voyage with the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air, starting at €561,700. Your adventure on the high seas awaits!
