Seen from the sky, Girona, Cadaques and Figueres, three cities loved and inhabited by Dalí form the Dalinian triangle. Fascinated by Catalan genius since always.
Himself said: “In this privileged place, the real and the sublime almost touch. My mystical paradise begins in the plains of Empordà, surrounded by the hills of Albères, and finds its fullness in the bay of Cadaqués. This country is my permanent inspiration ”.
It is with this sentence in mind that I decide to follow, accompanied by Emma, this invisible route from Figueres, his hometown.
2 DAYS / 3 CITIES
WITHOUT GPS
For this Road trip, we are boarding a Buick Seventh generation which was produced between 1992 and 2000. The LeSabre has been redesigned in the same order as the Park Avenue of the previous year. It was only available as a four-door sedan from this point before the car was discontinued in 2005. The headlights were added with an amber light signature, separated and wrapped around the lower front fascia. The rear fascia had a wider mouth and a lower lift on the height to facilitate the loading of luggage while the front was smoothed with a simplified chrome molding. Otherwise Emma wears Chanel sandals in March, everything is fine!
DAY 1
NEAR. 73 MILES – NEARLY 2H10
HEAD TO CADAQUES
Cadaquès’s one of the gems of the Catalan coast. Composed of a multitude of typical small lime houses, the favorite city of Salvador Dalí is the first essential step in a Catalan road trip. To discover on the spot? The Santa Maria church, built in the 16th century by fishermen and immortalized hundreds of times in paintings, the small traditional shops expert in straw baskets, the Mallorquina pastry shop and its fabulous turrón without forgetting the breathtaking views from the heights of the old town.
We continue with the visit of the Castle of Peralada. The Peralada region’s known for its viticulture and the quality of its wines. But also for its medieval castle, property of master or it is possible to walk through a wooded park and visit its cloister. Without forgetting its supplied library, which has, among other things, over a thousand editions of Don Quijote de la Mancha.
FROM FIGUERES TO GIRONA
Born in Figueres, Salvador Dalí has always been very attached to the city. And the Dalí Theater-Museum is the last great work of the Spanish artist. Built between the walls of the old municipal theater, the place offers a total immersion in the delirious universe of Dalí. Combining drawings, sculptures, paintings… There are over 1,500 works by the artist, including his jewelry collections, and some of his personal belongings. No one is indifferent to this incredible house inaugurated in 1974. It fascinates art lovers, amuses children and piques the curiosity of all.
With its steep alleys and stone buildings, Girona is one of the prettiest cities in Catalonia. Inspired by the colorful architecture of Florence, time does not seem to have had a hold on this walled city teeming with attractive spots. Like the colossal Sainte-Marie Cathedral, more recently captured in Game of Thrones, its kilometers of ramparts plunging into the surroundings or its morning market full of regional products. Everything is simply charming. Direction the Peralada hotel to end this first day of a smoothly road trip .
Where to sleep around?

DAY 2

Along the Catalan coast, the GR92 immerses walkers in the wilderness of the region. Mixing in turn coves with turquoise waters and small fishing villages, the landscape is breathtaking. In particular on the side of Llafranc and Palafrugell, two azure spots with tombs. Our journey ends. Well not quite, rather in another form.
