I suggest you discover a place where time stops once there. An 11th century castle on an area of 2000 hectares of pastures located in a little visited corner of the Charente between Limoges and Angoulême. The owner? (Because this is often the first question that comes to mind) is one of the richest men in France, Didier Primat. The happy bought the estate in 1986. After his death, his daughter Garance undertook a complete renovation, with the greatest respect for heritage.
Today, the estate has 29 rooms: seven are in the castle and the others are divided into six cottages and another building. A reputable Mayfair bookstore, a super spa, seven lakes and a private art collection, a complement to the property’s typically French farmhouse gallery – now houses a Michelin-starred restaurant.
The field of ponds is unclassifiable, everything is there, excellence and fantasy, modern and tradional. The works of Matisse and Picasso alongside the prints of Tintin. The library is full of comics and low table monographs. Room names refer to planets and constellations and the domain’s emblem is a dragonfly.
The estate offers a multitude of activities in symbiosis with nature such as hiking and boating outdoors. Visit a fauna and a beautiful vegetable garden.
Domaine des Etangs offers a truly unique hotel experience. This is a place for rediscovery, relaxation, observation and for savoring the present moment.
