A few days ago, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Rencontres de la photo in Arles. This festival is a must-attend event for art and photography enthusiasts, supported by renowned sponsors such as BMW, who invited me on this occasion.
Iconic Power: BMW Z4 M40i Redefines Performance
The BMW Z4 is often considered one of the most attractive & enjoyable convertibles…
Between test-driving high-end cars and wandering through the vibrant streets of Arles, I had the chance to live an unforgettable experience. However, what left an indelible mark on my stay was the discovery of a hidden gem not far from there, in Nîmes: L’Imperator.
From the moment I stepped through the doors of L’Imperator, I could feel the echo of its rich past. This historic hotel, which in its time hosted cultural icons such as Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso, elegantly blends the charm of the old with modern sophistication. This iconic address was expertly renovated by Maison Albar Hotels, a French brand of five-star boutique hotels. Their hospitality expertise is reflected in every detail, creating a perfect balance between luxury and conviviality.
The architectural renovation, orchestrated by l’Atelier COS and Marcelo Joulia from Naço agency, has transformed the hotel while respecting its heritage. The result is a subtle mix of audacity and elegance, visible in every corner, every detail of the establishment.
What particularly appealed to me were the rooms. I had the chance to stay in one of the 53 rooms overlooking the inner courtyard. Carefully designed, they offer a luxurious refuge far from the tumult of the Arles festival. My room, decorated with impeccable taste, offered an idyllic view of the inner courtyard, a true oasis of tranquility. This serene panorama invited me to relaxation and contemplation every day.
The inner courtyard itself is a real gem. Green and flowered, it offers a striking contrast with the hustle and bustle of the surrounding city. It is a space where time seems to stand still, a place conducive to relaxation after a busy day. I spent many moments there, savoring the calm and beauty of the place.
On the culinary side, the experience was just as memorable. Under the leadership of the three-starred chef Pierre Gagnaire, I had the opportunity to savor dishes of incredible audacity and finesse, at the gastronomic restaurant Duende, at the brasserie L’Impé, and at the Hemingway Bar.
Furthermore, L’Imperator offers a real invitation to well-being. In association with Codage, a French custom-made cosmetic brand, the hotel has an exceptional spa. The jacuzzi, the sensory shower, the fitness room, and the sublime suspended outdoor pool were for me an unparalleled source of relaxation.
During my stay, I also got to discover the festive side of Nîmes, with L’Imperator serving as an anchor point. The Ferias, the Flamenco Festival, the concerts in the Arena… the hotel is not just a spectator, but an actor in these festive moments, extending the celebration in its legendary inner garden.
In conclusion, my stay at L’Imperator, orchestrated by Maison Albar Hotels, was much more than a simple getaway in a five-star hotel. It was a dive into a historic institution that redefines the French art of living through its architecture, hospitality, gastronomy, and luxurious facilities. An experience that transported me back in time, and one that I am eager to renew.
