Between Pampelonne and Ramatuelle is a peaceful enclave away from the constant bustle of the small port invaded by hordes of tourists. A little gem initially opened in 1959, at the beginning of the phenomenon that would transform the popular destination of celebrities from Sacha Distel to Audrey Hepburn, I am talking about the 1959 EPI hotel.
The legend of Epi has been built for more than half a century. A legendary club from the tropezian golden age, Épi is a timeless place that lives at its own pace.

I dedicate this Road Trip between the coast and the hinterland to aficionados of modern and contemporary art. This place steeped in history recalls the magnetism of Ramatuelle, where artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Signac and Dufy came, fascinated by the colors of the Riviera.
The establishment is located on Pampelonne beach – the most famous of the beaches of the Gulf of St Tropez. Here time stops and plunges the visitor into a peaceful tranquility, in particular thanks to its garden staged by the American landscape designer Madison Cox. The plant virtuoso who designed the few most beautiful gardens in the world, including that of Majorelle in Marrakech. In the heart of this lush garden, EPI 1959 is a destination in its own right. A place to spend the summer, play a set on the tennis courts at sunset, dive in the pool, dry in the sun, or take refuge in the shade of a tree.
It’s a timeless place where there is neither obligation not program

The rooms are comfortable and tasteful, even here you travel so much while maintaining a relaxed beach style. Some details still make the difference like some high-end products or the Dyson hair dryer. The rooms are located around the swimming pool and the staff offers complimentary blueberry and watermelon juice as a refreshment. The design of the pool leans towards a Palm Springs style with pale yellow parasols, cushions with golden patterns and the bright blue pool.
All attention is paid to details such as the restaurant’s menus written by hand, feet in the sand you can taste grilled langoustines and beautiful seasonal tomatoes, aperitivo facing the sparkling Mediterranean… A real little paradise.
