One&Only One Za’abeel, Dubai
A new vertical urban complex rising above the Za’abeel district, the two striking skyscrapers of One Za’abeel are crossed by a third horizontal cantilevered block, the world’s longest, called The Link, a futuristic boulevard floating 100 meters above the street.
Designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, the 229 rooms, suites, and penthouse villas of this new luxury hotel draw inspiration from Za’abeel’s location. Meaning “white sand” in the local dialect, the design unfolds a palette of soothing neutral colors with subtle sand motifs in textiles, artworks, and sculptural lighting. Various suite options take the hotel’s luxury to new heights: the Grand Panoramic Suite offers a 180° view of the city skyline, while the Sanctuary Suite includes a massage table, a meditation and stretching area, exercise equipment, and in-room spa treatments.
The restaurant will be located in the horizontal part of the building, The Link, inspired by the bustling, restaurant-lined streets of New York and Hong Kong. On the fourth floor of the new hotel, The Garden will bring a space with a lagoon pool, suspended garden, and pool bar. The complex will also include a spa, a fitness center, a private club on the 53rd floor, and an event lawn at the Garden, overlooking the city.

Sharaan by Jean Nouvel, Saudi Arabia
In 2024, the Sharaan by Jean Nouvel will open its doors, envisioned by the star architect of the Louvre Abu Dhabi or the Philharmonie de Paris. Carved into the rock of the iconic Al-Ula site, in the desert heart of the country that serves as a showcase for new, sometimes controversial tourism in Saudi Arabia, the hotel will celebrate Nabatean genius. This civilization, the origin of the Al-Ula site and Petra in Jordan, inspires the architect who will carve forty rooms and three villas into the mountain, with also 14 private pavilions scattered outside. A titanic project, criticized, that we still can’t wait to see in person.
